About USS Midway Museum

Explore aircraft holding historical significance, crew quarters, and get a real-life experience of stepping into an aircraft with flight simulators. Guides provide information and stories, offering a glimpse into life aboard.

Why Visit the USS Midway Museum?

Located downtown on San Diego's Navy Pier, the USS Midway Museum is an impressive World War II aircraft carrier and immersive museum. Midway was the longest-serving U.S. aircraft carrier, including its role in the Cold War and humanitarian deployments.

As guests step onboard, they are greeted by the cavernous Hangar Deck with restored aircraft, flight simulators, and the interactive "Battle of Midway" theater room. A self-guided audio tour using audio from former sailors walks you through 60+ points such as sleeping quarters, engineering spaces, brig, officers' mess, allowing you to see daily life aboard the floating city come to life!

On the Flight Deck, you may walk among 29 historic aircraft like jets, bombers, and helicopters, and take in magnificent views of the San Diego Bay and skyline. The Island Tour climbs into the control tower and captain's bridge for a fascinating view of naval command and navigation.

Below deck, imagine daily life in confined spaces, a galley feeding thousands each day, a combat information center, and engage Navy veteran docents regarding their personal experiences.
