The garden is divided into different regions with a theme for each section, including Mediterranean, Africa, and Australia, making it convenient for the tourists to study what interests them. The botanical garden also puts on an extraordinary Lightscape show every year during the holiday season. It also has the largest public bamboo collection in North America.

In addition to being a treat to the eyes, the San Diego Botanic Garden harbours a wide variety of local, medicinal, and agricultural plants focusing on their conservation, preservation, and development.
