Renowned theatre offering a variety of plays and performances.

Step into the enchanting world of the Old Globe Theater, a historic gem in San Diego’s Balboa Park. With its Shakespearean charm, lush surroundings, and world-class performances, this iconic venue is a must-visit for theater lovers and history buffs alike.

Drawing its inspiration from Shakespeare’s original Globe, this theatre is a Tudor-style architectural marvel that captivates the audience with its engaging performances.

Why Visit the Old Globe Theater?

This beloved theatre first opened in 1935 and is located in the vibrant Balboa Park, which is the cultural hub of San Diego. Ironically, the Old Globe Theatre was established as a temporary structure to host the California Pacific International Exposition, but it continues to put on unforgettable performances to this day.

This expansive theatre is spread over three stages, namely the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre for a mesmerizing night under the stars, the homely Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre that brings you closer to the artists, leaving you engrossed in the act, and the primary Old Globe Theatre with its unique, one of a kind architecture.

Since the formation of this theatre, it has launched more than a whopping twenty productions, appreciated and recognized by both Broadway and Off-Broadway. The theatre has also been presented with the honourable Tony Award for Best Regional Theatre, leaving its lasting impression in the American Theatrical category.

The Old Globe Theatre is a must-visit for everyone who admires Shakespeare’s work, presented in an exciting manner of live performances, bringing history back to life and blending traditional values with modern bright motives.
