Start your walk or bike ride early, while the morning is still quiet and the sunlight is soft, spot joggers, roller-skaters, and eager surfers stretching before the crowds move in. Visit the picturestique Crystal Pier along the ocean, an 872-foot wooden landmark built in 1927


Just down the path looms Belmont Park, a charming amusement venue that has welcomed guests since 1925. Nestled inside is the legendary Giant Dipper roller coaster, honored as a National Historic Landmark, beside it are buzzing arcades, mini-golf, surf simulators, and open-air beachfront dining.


If you crave the salt water itself, Mission Beach has you covered, rentals for surf boards, paddle boards, kite boards, jet skis, and old-school boogie boards are everywhere. Call it a day once you've soaked up sun and surf, feed your appetite at laid-back beach joints and bars serving juicy burgers, fresh tacos, local craft beers, and breezy sunset cocktails.

From I-5, exit SeaWorld Drive, follow signs to W Mission Bay Dr, drive on Mission Blvd, follow the signs to reach Mission Beach.
