About The New Parkway Theater

Oakland's cool, community movie spot where movie night feels like hanging out with friends from a couch while eating pizza or sipping craft beer.

Why Visit the Parkway Theater?

The New Parkway Theater is not a typical movie spot in Oakland but one of its coolest and most laid-back places to watch movies. You won't be stuck in stiff theater chairs here but instead, you'll find cozy couches, armchairs, and even coffee tables, giving you the vibe of hanging out in someone's cool living room. They screen everything from indie films and documentaries to cult classics, plus they often host sing-alongs, trivia nights, and special community screenings, immensely loved by visitors.

What makes this place even better is their in-house café. You can order food like pizzas, sandwiches, and salads, along with popcorn, local beer, and fresh lemonade, all served right to your seat. It's budget-friendly too, with affordable ticket prices and special deals on certain nights. The best time to visit is during their theme nights or when they're showing old-school classics. Later, you can even walk around the surrounding area of Uptown Oakland, packed with restaurants and cool hangout spots to explore. Visitors love how casual and friendly the place feels, and you'll definitely have a great time here, with a fun local crowd who's there to enjoy good movies and good company.
