Why Visit Rockridge Library?


Rockridge Library is one of Oakland's coziest community spaces and absolutely perfect for spending a calm and productive day in the city. You'll find the library located in the center of the Rockridge area, encircled by local stores and cafés. The library boasts a fantastic selection of books, including graphic novels, cookbooks, children's literature, and even new publications.  It is a pleasant place to read or write with big windows letting in lots of natural light, adding to its cozy and warm vibe. You'll additionally find a kids' corner here, making it a cool hangout spot for families with children. 


One of the best parts of Rockridge Library is its free programs. You can join fun book clubs, creative workshops, or storytelling sessions for kids. It's budget-friendly too since everything here is totally free, making it a smart pick for students or families on a budget. What makes it better is that there's also free Wi-Fi here and plenty of quiet corners to do office work or finish assignments. After spending some time here, you can also take a walk around College Avenue, filled with boutique stores and cool eateries if you want to grab a bite. The area is also near the Rockridge BART station, so it's super easy to reach too.

  • You'll find 12 public computers with internet access and printing available in the library.
  • The library also has a reservable meeting room that can hold up to 94 people total, one side has a sink, and the other has a projection screen and whiteboard. 
  • Rockridge Library is fully accessible with automatic doors, elevators, accessible bathrooms, water fountains, accessible workstations and even helpful assistive software. 
  • For parking, you have quite some options around the neighbourhood like paid lots, paid street parking, and free street parking all within walking distance.
  • Food and drinks aren't allowed inside the library and make sure to use headphones if you're using the library's Wi-Fi with your laptop. 
  • Make sure to check the website in case of closures and holidays, before visiting.



How to Get There


By metro

For travelling by BART, Rockridge Station is the closest to the library. From there, it's about a 5-7 minute walk along College Avenue to reach the location.


By train

By Amtrak, you need to get off at Oakland Jack London Square Station and from there, take a bus or a cab up to the Rockridge neighborhood.


By bus

AC Transit lines 51A, 51B, 79 and 851 stop near College Avenue, right by the library.


By car

If commuting by car, drive via CA-24 and take the Claremont Avenue exit to reach College Avenue.
