There are tons of activities you can indulge in as the place has something for everyone. It is a very family-friendly spot where kids can play in the playground and water play areas. There are also sports fields available for softball, soccer, and beach volleyball, plus a small lake where you can fish, with piers and little bridges. Another good thing about this park is that it is pet-friendly and dog owners can go about and explore the off-leash redwood trail.  

Moreover, there are plenty of benches and clean restrooms available around the park, elevating the comfort factor. For food and dining options, you can walk over to nearby Piedmont Avenue, where you'll find ice cream, tacos, coffee, and other quick snacks to indulge in. There's no entrance fee and the park is especially nice from spring to fall when everything's green and lively.   • Note that there's a dedicated off-leash redwood trail if you're bringing your dog along. 
  • There are restrooms located near the playground and it is advisable to carry your own water, especially when hot, as drinking fountains are limited. 
  • Free street parking is usually available along Highland Avenue, but spaces can fill up during weekends
  • Benches are scattered throughout the park for your comfort.
  • Check out Piedmont Avenue located nearby the park to grab ice cream or coffee at local cafés.



How to Get There


By metro

Take BART to the MacArthur or 19th Street Oakland station and once there, use a short ride or bus trip to reach the park

By train

If travelling via Amtrak, Jack London Square station is the closest, with buses or rideshare options available afterwards to reach the destination.

By bus

AC Transit routes, such as 11, 33, or 12, stop nearby on Highland Avenue or Grand Avenue.

By car

If driving, use I-580 and take the Grand Ave exit. Follow local signs to Highland Avenue for direct access to Piedmont Park.
