I'm not sure there is any other place like New York City in December. The Big Apple comes alive as a winter wonderland with fantastic Christmas decorations and markets, as well as the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

It's a joy to walk down Fifth Avenue and see the bright holiday window displays and ice skating in Bryant Park. You will also want to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Then, visit Times Square or a Broadway Show to wrap up your trip. If you are there until New Year’s Eve, you will get to take in the legendary Times Square Ball Drop.

2. Aspen, Colorado

Aspen is considered by many to be the December destination for winter sports lovers. Located in the Rocky Mountains, this quaint ski town has world-class skiing and snowboarding, top-of-the-line resorts, and a spirited après-ski scene.
